The OFDP-55HD is a pull type farm drainage plow with a heavy duty walking-tandem trailer system. If desired, pull three pins and it converts to a 3-point hitch machine. The OFDP-55HD can be pulled by a large front wheel assist or articulate 4-wheel drive tractor. The OFDP-55HD is designed to withstand the stresses of today’s heavier and higher horsepower tractors. This model is capable of installing up to 10” diameter drainage tile up to 66” deep. If soil conditions require, a second tractor can be attached using the second hitch point at the base of the mainframe, avoiding undue stress on the main pulling tractor. The OFDP-55HD comes standard with a tile installation depth gauge so you know at a glance how deep you are installing the tile.
The OFDP-55HD is sold with a 4” or 6” quick attach trailing boot. Our quick attach trailing boots are designed to be changed out in minutes by removing a safety pin and lifting the boot off the machine, setting the other boot in its place and replacing the safety pin. The 4” quick attach trailing boot is designed to accurately install 3” or 4” diameter tile. The 6” quick attach trailing boot is designed to accurately install 5” or 6” diameter tile. The optional 8” quick attach trailing boot is designed to accurately install 8” diameter tile. Also available, 7”, 9”, and 11” front wear plates which can be changed by removing 6 bolts.
There are parallel pull arms on the OFDP-55HD model. The lower arm pulls the shoe/shank assembly through the soil. The upper arm controls the reverse pressure of the shoe/shank assembly. This keeps the shoe/shank at zero pitch. When using the walking-tandem, the reverse pressure on the upper arm transfers down pressure from the tongue of the plow to the drawbar of the tractor increasing traction.
With the 26 degree front angle on the shoe, the machine lifts and shatters the soil to allow the machine to glide through the soil with less resistance. The v-bottom on the base of the shoe/shank assembly allows the soil to form to the tile, greatly reducing the risk for crushed tile.
The OFDP-55HD operates with a zero pitch on the shoe/shank assembly. Zero pitch allows for the most accurate tile placement in the industry. With zero pitch, the tile is discharged at the same depth as the tip of the shoe, so the tile is discharged at the depth grade control indicates.
The OFDP-55HD is shipped with a Bullpull hitch. The Bullpull allows the pin to swivel in the hitch with the Bullpull shimmed tight to the clevis.
The OFDP-55HD is equipped with 3 hydraulic lift cylinders for faster reactions and greater grade control. The cylinders only require 2500 pounds of hydraulic pressure to operate, compared to the industry average of 35oo pounds.
Also included with this machine is a laser/GPS mount for grade control equipment.
To operate the machine, back up to the start hole for your drainage tile, lower the shoe/shank assembly into the hole, with the plow cylinders, to the desired depth. Insert your drainage tile into the tile installation boot and have someone hold the tile until you are approximately 20 feet into the run. When you get to the end of the run, lift the plow and go to the next start hole.
The dolly system on this machine is a walking tandem system for less movement at the pivot point allowing for better, more accurate, grade control. Wide base 425/65R22.5 tires on this model give better flotation in the field. The plow can be removed from the dolly system by removing 3 pins, converting it into a 3 point hitch plow on any tractor with a category 3 hitch.
